Leagues of play and other similar topics (5)

There are three divisions:

  1. Recreational  – everyone plays and generally no tournaments.
  2. D1, or developmental –  requires light travel and tournaments. For TASA this equates to 2 or 3 tournaments per season.
  3. Select or Premiere – Players “try out” and players are hand picked.  Training may occur at multiple locations.  These types of teams typically require lots of travel and one year commitment from players.

No, TASA does not have select teams.

Although we don’t have select teams we have played in numerous tournaments against select teams and won.

Under D1 program guidelines we are required to take all players.  If there are enough players we make gold and silver teams within the same age group.  This is to align teams better suited for their competition levels during tournaments.

A players card is a card issued by US Club Soccer that certifies that they have seen your players birth certificate and verified their age to play in the age group they are playing in.  In short, it is their ID card, much like a drivers license.

If another team has a dispute on a player’s age or questions that they are not the player in question, the team manager must produce a players card for each player at registration and have it at each game during a tournament.  You also need a card to be a guest player for another team.

A guest player is a player that is registered with US Club Soccer and is already on a team roster but wants to play, or has been invited to play as a guest for a tournament or friendly.  Said player is often from another club looking for more playing time or may fill the role of a player from the team that is absent or injured.

Uniforms (2)

About a week after the season begins and rosters are finalized you’ll receive an email regarding uniforms.  The email will contain a link to soccer.com wherein you can order your jersey.  A number will be preassigned to you, no need for you to customize the order.  After the order is placed it will typically arrive in about a week.

For a more detailed account of how you order uniforms visit this page.

TASA likes to keep the same uniform as long as we can, typically two years or 4 seasons.  For this reason we recommend you buy sizes a little big for your player so that you can eliminate the need to replace the uniform due to those growth spurts our players all experience.

Sometimes when a new player joins the club it may be at the end of a uniform cycle and the uniform bought in the fall of the year will be eliminated in the spring of the following year and the player will need to purchase another uniform.  This is due to Adidas discontinuing the uniforms and the previous styles of shirts/shorts are no longer available.
